The sun doesn’t rise these days.
Instead, it jumps out of the bed and dashes for a quick circle around the earth before settling in front of Sulekha.com for the rest of the day. Because the whole world congregates here!
From every nook and corner of the globe, people of different height, weight, temperaments, typing speed and underwear sizes throng the hallowed hallways of this virtual hangout to meet and greet each other. To fling poo. To exercise their right to have opinions. To wrestle with each others ideas and drag them through the mud. To be poets, writers, intellectuals, sadists, voyeurs, chefs and top dogs in millions of minds. To live for a while as if no other world existed for them. This is where it all unfolds – the desire for un-inhibited expression, deserved and undeserved recognition, deliverance from moments of loneliness and boredom, energetic discussions, enlightenment, entrapment, and attention seeking posts like this one!
Every single day, every single second, tens and thousands of such ‘demands-for-attention with typographical and grammatical errors’ are born in these corridors. Thousands die without seeing the sun for too long. Thousands more hardly make it through an hour. A few hundred, maybe even less, stumble along huffing and puffing all the while, for a day before giving in, and giving up their life. Only a rare few enjoy the distinction of being alive and present to the world long enough for you and me to meet them face to face and be introduced properly. Those are the few that attain fame by rising above the relentless swarm of ‘thoughts, ideas and opinions’ being born here by dozens every millisecond. Those are the blogs that are read well and shared among the members with joy.
I would like to write a blog like that as much as you do. The question is, how? How do we produce such a blog? I know of no guaranteed methods or straight-forward answers to that. I have heard of different things from different people. Some say, it is all about networking – staying connected with other bloggers and actively participating in the blogging community you are part of. Some say it’s about focus – by not writing for everyone. It takes away your perspective and the blog loses it’s ‘voice.’ Others say relevance is the key – everything hinges on the topicality of the subject you chose to write about. Then there is usefulness – does your post add value, enrich the reader’s life in anyway, help him achieve something. It is also said that sex doesn’t sell (surprise!!) but love does! Humour sells best. Understandable, I guess.
I guess the phenomenon of blogging being in its nascent stage will take a little more time to be decoded and understood. It isn’t easy trying to make sense of billions of dynamic minds with actively changing dreams, aspirations and wants. But I am sure one day, we will. Till then, we can follow the things that seem to work for other people. If they don’t work for you, find something else. J This place is only as restricted as your imagination and creativity. To the long list of things that you would want to do to become an ace blogger, I would add just one more – respect. Respect your reader. Try to treat his or her time accordingly. Don’t ever take it for granted. Good luck, comrade! Let the sun shine on your blogs forever!

luv-rocks, I never thought you kid so you may not want to emphasise that henceforth!! LOL
You are right. Blogs are just a way of expressing oneself. So is dressing up. I guess we take much care in our attire and not in what we blog simply because we are anonymous here and hence can do away with the responsibility of social decorum or approval. :-)
Good to see you here. thanks for stopping by.

Blogs are just a way of expressing oneself. Some writers blog, but most bloggers are just regular people. Don't know how many bloggers are aspiring writers, but those are the ones who would learn from your valuable tips. Others will just continue to blog on as they do.
Yes, and aspiring writers love to have their blogs critiqued. That's a free service now on Sulekha. Hopefully, it should attract more aspiring writers to blog here. Am not kidding. Just stating my opinion.
Cheers!

Mr.Stranger,
No, ..really now, what is it not to get. Its not rocket science or anything. You didnt begin or finish what you were gonna say and dats d reason y I said what I did.
elloooo stranger or no stranger , it was not like I was handing out the combination to my safe deposit box or anything. You look too much into stuff for underlying meanings.
It is obvious.
just another stranger

Red, there are some people who speak as if they want to tell you something but never quite make it clear what it is. They expect you to assume/understand the meaning of their words. It is almost like listening to a 'secret code.' You may have come across some in your life too. frankly, you seem to me to be doing that now. Just my personal opinion.
You see, if 'it' was obvious, why should I ask you? Secondly, if you don't begin a conversation that you don't intend to finish, it's fine. But why would you want me to know that? Don't tell me that it is obvious too. I wouldn't ask, if it was.
I am stranger to you. Atleast, with certainity I can say, you are to me. Whether all of us here are strangers to you, well, I don't know. So I can't say. :-)

Duh ! asking the obvious. You'll figure out the first and no its not a typo silly.
I don't begin what I don't intend to finish LIKE A CONVERSATION. T H E R E H O P I N G Y O U W I L L G E T I T N O W !
Secondly oh puhleez !!!
So all of you here are absolute strangers huh !! now thats news. How about that I never knew.
You prodded me to go on...I had left with the And...

Red, ah... I hear you. I don't know why you want me to know that you "read and review and don't pass baseless accusations?" Nor do I know why is it so important for you to tell me that "you are one helluva kick asking girl?"
Please feel free to be anything you wish to be, Red. You know you don't need to justify yourself to an absolute stranger like me. Or anyone for that matter. You are only well within your rights to do what you do for us to see who you are.
BTW, what does 'kick asking girl' mean? Is that a typo or am I just ignorant of the ways of the western world?
I personally think it is a very good trait not to leave anything unfinished. But I can't say the same about not begining anything. If you don't begin anything, what will have to finish? Other people's work?
